$10 at Goodwill for the pair.

Golden Girls or Modernist Rattan? I think I really like them, but I’m not sure where they will end up.

$3.99 Salvation Army.

Owls? Done and dead? How does scale affect tired trends?

Does 14″ of vintage hot red ceramic owl qualify as more sculptural and therefore more interesting or remain firmly planted as trendy tsotchke? Hmmmmmm.

I’m not sure if the owl thing is dead dead dead – but I suspect this guy may still be pretty rad.

Sweet jesus I’m so glad I’m getting back to a normal work schedule and can go thrifting. I was jonesing big time for my thrifty adventures during the past few months. What a sweet sense of relief walking in and smelling that oh so familiar musty fart smell of the thrift store.

On the vintage shopping rounds I also picked up this vintage painting of a sassy pink lady at the Goodwill. She watches over the computer and den with her monochromatic steely gaze.

What a sweater kitten. Meow.

The other thing I picked up on my thrifty adventures is this geode. Its awesomely large and insanely heavy. Like a wonderful amethyst vagina.

I’ve been on the hunt for big mineral clusters for what seems like forever. Ebay has forsaken me (those gem nerds pay a FORTUNE for these things) plus shipping these rocks can be cost prohibitive. I found a little crappy section of an even crappier vintage mall that had geodes, mineral specimens and those light up pictures of dolphins that move and make ocean sounds.

This big boy sold me and I can’t wait to incorporate it into the decor. I smell a bit of an obsession brewing…

Looks like I’m a rock hound as well as a furniture fanatic. Mineral specimens make great additions for a little vignette bling. I have to be careful though, I don’t want t to get all new-agey in here or some crap.
