Thrifty!

I checked out a couple of thrift stores on my only day off this week. Slim pickings!
Maybe its the holiday weekend, or the crappy economy, but all 5 of the stores I stopped at were packed and I only walked away with 2 things…

Salvation Army – My very first set of Fiestaware! I always loved this stuff but never see it, or its just ridiculously priced. I got 4 cups, 3 bowls, 4 small plates, and 4 big plates for….$4.55!

Salvation Army – $10.55. I paid a lot for this needlepoint. Its pretty big, and I love the graphic shapes. Maybe I just was so sad about not finding anything all day and went for it…it was sitting right next to the cash register – damn those brilliant marketers!

I had a small break from the madness that has overtaken my work life (or what allows me to pay for that demanding bi-och – The Brick House). I stopped by my 2 favorite thrift stores in town and found a few things…

Angel View Thrift – $3.99. Lemon and odd perspective teapot still life. The yellow frame sold me.

Salvation Army – $3.55. Ceramic owl with shiny hypnotizing green eyes. Sexy.

Salvation Army – $4.65 and $3.55. Some more vintage planters.

Angel View Thrift – $12 each. Pair of office chairs from 1963 – according to the tag. I like the walnut armrests and the chrome back that allows the backrest to lean a bit. The fabric is nubbly and in really good shape. They are a little cold and officy but I like the clean lines and the rust color.

Here they are with the newly painted fireplace. Look at those floors shine! We are still waiting for the couch from EQ3 to arrive and they promise it will be this week or next. Promises, promises…I want to use my living room…

The summer season is kicking in at work and from now on I have to work weekends. So it looks like this is the big last trip to get me through the summer. Maybe its for the best…the house is getting a little crowded.

Salvation Army. $4.55 – there was this plastic bag full of these vintage ceramic birds covered in soil. I washed them off and saw that they are from Japan and they have weird numbers. I wonder what they are for.

SA – $3.55 – Owl tea light. I have a couple of these owl tea lights…its looking like a collection.

SA- $1 each. Vintage framed records. I got these for the Boy.

Angel View Thrift – $4.99 – little green patio table. I’m going to paint it white…eventually.

SA – $1 each (thats $4 total for you math wiz). These chairs are awesome. The frame is metal and seats are vinyl – I’m probably going to recover the seats with some fun fabric. I want them to stay out on the patio but haven’t decided how or where…

SA – $3.55 – Blue handmade pillow.

Angel View Thrift – $9.99 – I like the shape – hate the vinyl. Another recover project…

SA – $3 – Nice semi-racist vintage statue. On sale from $18 as a “collectible”. They are crazy at the Salvation Army Boutique.

SA – $3.55 – Brass owl…ummmmmm more clutter.

SA – $4.00 – Hippo planter. Maybe Hippos are the next big trend

SA – $2 – on sale. A Platner style dish thing.

SA – $2 – vintage atomic dish thing. Whats hard to see in the pic are these little incised star bursts that run along the middle.
