Needlepoint madness

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I was going through and organizing some of my thrift store needlepoint collection and thought that the den/office could be a fun place to install it…

Below is some close-up action:

Oh yeah. Good god…that is a lot of bad needlepoint.

So hopefully as I collect I can add to the ever expanding collection (there is still more hidden in my guest room) and wrap them around the room or something along those lines – I just don’t want it to be overwhelming scary needlepoint room. I’m starting to think that the walls should be painted a color above that awful wainscoting….oh please no more paint. ever.

I’m so tired of painting.

Progress.

Some before and after action of the desk:

I changed the hardware on the desk this week. Goodbye ugly brass with paint and yuckie stuff, hello brushed aluminum pulls.

Still not loving the desk. Or those cords….

(Old hardware, & new hardware)

Progress on the closet in the master bedroom. Here’s how it looked when we first did the inspection…memories…BAD memories…

Some progress:

I also bought house numbers (I’m so unoriginal) they are Neutra Face. I splurged and got them on a recent trip to Palm Springs. I did spend some money on them, but less than what they go for online – it still hurt a bit. I LOVE them so much – it was worth it (and they look SOOOOO good).

I think we will install them after we paint the house. So they are waiting patiently in the bar area.

This is the exterior light on the back porch, theres a matching one on the front porch as well. Yuck.
More globe pendants to replace these? More FADO perhaps!

Cone Light

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

We installed the hardwire aluminum spun cone light I purchased off of Ebay. I love it – it fits perfectly and aluminum matches the base of the FADO lamp we installed in the den.

Also, it works! It didn’t catch on fire or anything. I think I’m getting the hang of this electrical thing.

Here it is above the newly painted desk…those handles will have to go….as well as that printer – YUCK.

I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the desk. I HATE IT and I’m not sure exactly how to make it more appealing…

I love this workspace put together by
Travis & Sara in Westchester, NY featured on Renovation Voyeur.
So clean and minimal, I love that you can’t see a bunch of wires and horribly ugly computer equipment. I hope to achieve a similarly seemingly wireless situation. White walls, gotta love some white walls.
