I’m going to Hang-It-All

What What!

My new Hong Kong faux Eames Hang-It-All has finally arrived.

I Ebay’d it for $35…but the shipping cost just as much. The shipping is were they really get you. Still overall a good deal since most reproductions cost $149 – $179 in the USA without shipping and taxes. Whatev’s – I’ve been dying for one these for some time, well almost a year, after I passed up a vintage one a year ago for $150 since it didn’t pass the $100 rule.

FINALLY I have somewhere to put my purse. It has been cluttering up the den/office desk since we moved in.

*I installed it in the den since that is our main entrance/exit. We never use the front door.

Office

The office is looking a hot mess.

I really need to figure something out. The wall light is killing me, our paperwork is out of control and there are cords everywhere…but at least I have a new solution for my purse…

Should I add shelves or something? I’m worried about closing in an already tight space with too many built-in features. I already kind of hate the layout of the desk and don’t want to slap more stuff on for just giggles. Then I have this idea about installing a shallow shelf that runs all the way across the wall above the door frame. I guess it wouldn’t be very accessible for storage.

Suggestions?

Welcome home baby.

I’ve been saving and waiting and hoping and it finally happened. The new Imac’s have come out so that means the last generation is on SALE! I also had a little inside help that made this expensive dream a thrifty reality…

My trusty old 15″ Mac notebook has been dragging ass and refused to handle the Blogger post template, let alone OSX. The processor is a relic of my college days – bought a whopping 8 YEARS ago. Jeeeeezzz.

I’m going to keep the old beast for web browsing and easy things, but this new beauty – she is FAST and PRETTY.

I just can’t stop touching her.

I feel REALLY guilty about such a big purchase in such a bad economic time, both globally and personally at The Brick House. I had been saving and planning this off and on for a year as my computer slowly disintegrated and became totally obsolete. I looked on Craigslist and Ebay and scoured anywhere for the perfect deal. With the introduction of the new Imac’s this open box baby was the right one at the right price. With all my love for her (Ms. Jackson if Your Nasty – thats her dog show name) I feel awful that I used the money I had saved for so long instead of keeping it in case things get worse.

But what about other people – are you buying big things you need and have saved for? Or are you stuffing your cash under the mattress?
