Kilim

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I’ve been wanting to replace the large Ikea Stockholm Rand rug that is in the living room for some time. You know…this one…

I bought it in the as-is section for $75 and thought I would love it more than I do. It was a bit of a stop gap solution to save my freshly refinished floors from doggy claws.

Finding a LARGE rug – something around 9 x 12 feet for less than $100 is proving to be quite difficult. Even the carpet remnant section is of no use.

I love the colors and graphic pattern of this Afghan Ghazni Kilim. But at 6 x 4 feet its just too small. If it was larger I would buy this in a second.

Neutral, neutral, neutral. Still 5 x 8 ft…and starting at a bid of 0.99 cents…its OK.

I love the pattern. The color? Not so much. Its sort looks like it should go in a really bland kids room in the 1980’s. Its 6 x 9ft and bidding is starting at $80 with free shipping…we might be getting closer…

I like the colors and pattern. Problem is – its only 3×6 ft.

This runner is pretty groovy. But its a runner and just not the right size.

Nice but still not right.

The impossible hunt continues for the perfect large rug for the living room that is under $100. If anyone has any ideas, sources or suggestions I would totally be game.

Bookends

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

In the search for the perfect pair of bookends I have decided that I love only two.

Ben Seibel Jenfred-ware bookends

George Nelson Jax / Jack bookends

The Nelson is a classic, but man all those Ben Seibel Jenfred bookends are sexxxx-y. These both pop-up on Ebay and Etsy, but can get quite pricey very quickly. The hope is that I stumble upon them somewhere unexpected and my wildest fantasies about keeping my books straight in style come true.

New Lamp

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I got a fancy looking vintage lamp this weekend from Amsterdam Modern. Ellen is having a sidewalk sale of 20 – 50% off items this upcoming weekend May 9th from 11 – 4pm, to make room for a bunch of new imported goodies. If you are in the Los Angeles area – I’d say this is a sale not to be missed. She has the most wonderful lighting and furniture to die for.

I need to rewire the lamp since it still has its European electrical, but for the price it was such a deal. I am totally going gaga for plastic Scandinavian lighting from the 70’s.
