WTF

What is this some sort of crazy abstract painting?
A light installation?
A sculpture in progress?

RAAAWWWRRRR!

It’s the old randomly placed mailbox hole.

The boy ripped out the old mailbox slot so that we can patch the interior bit of wall in the guest bedroom. There was a bunch of trash and black widows living in there – eeewww. We have a mailbox on the street so this bit of nostalgia is now defunct and a bit too breezy and disgusting to keep around.

We are trying to figure out how to patch this bad boy up so that there isn’t a large gaping peep hole looking directly into the guest bedroom. Anyone want to stay over? I swear that one weird neighbor won’t stop by and watch you sleeping…

Exterior Wood Siding

There is a section of the ugly exterior
back patio that I want to cover with horizontal slats of wood. Like this guy did via the LA Times.

Good to know:

1. Use quality, stain-grade redwood
2. Use the proper kind of nail (zinc oxide, to prevent corrosion)
3. Drill a starter hole before tapping in each nail (to avoid splitting the wood)

I think we can do this after learning how to float furring strips on our concrete bricks in the guest bedroom.

Shipping container pool

What?!?! How to build your own! I am all over this idea.

Yummm. Yes please.

Or you could do it like the hipsters do and DIY it with some plastic and dumpsters.

I know it’s getting to be winter time and such, but I really want a pool. It’s too f*ing hot out here in the desert to go another summer without delicious swim time. Build it during the cool bit and then fun all around when the temperature rises…

I have the perfect narrow bit of land on the side of the house just aching for a shipping container/dumpster pool.
