Thrifty…

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Thrifting was terrible this weekend. This is it – a little shifty eyed bird blob. Sigh…

It’s probably a good thing since I finished up my first month at the consignment shop…and…well…it’s not a raging success.

….

I tried switching up the coffee table in the living room to brighten things up…

Look at emo Iggy. He perfectly expresses my deflated and defeated mood.

The new coffee table arrangement lasted about a week and now I’m trying to sell it on Craigslist. That’s not working out so well either…

On the plus side a neighbor threw up in my backyard. Which means the next big house project is going to be a gate! Hooray!

Thrifty!

Everything was sparse as well as red, brown and danish on the thrifty rounds this weekend. I picked up two pieces of Dansk – a Jens Quistgaard kobenstyle red enamel pot and a brown Gourmet Designs plastic pitcher with lid. I also picked up this red metal retractable lamp, I love a good retractable lamp!

Otherwise nothing too exciting happened on the thrifty rounds except for spotting Eddie Ross in some bright green shorts at the Estate Sale Company in Palm Springs.

As The Boy can attest – I can be horribly awkward in social situations. Like a feral child I tend to freeze up during routine human interaction, so instead of just being a normal design dork and saying hi and asking how Martha smells I just took a quick (and horrible) iphone pic at a distance to confirm this strange coincidence.

Oh man, I’m a creep. CREEP.

At Night

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

The slats look really beautiful at night (like a lantern) and also create privacy for the front of the house. Our street (as well as every nearby street) lacks street lights and it gets hella dark around these parts.

I think the next big project (after we paint the house) will have to be fixing that front door up. Oh, I cannot express how badly I want to tear off that screen door, patch the giant holes on the the front door, get new entry hardware and paint that SOB shiny black. CANNOT WAIT. Except for funds need to replenish a bit…so we got to wait for that…

Also, I think we need to start considering outdoor and landscape lighting. We have about zero as of now and it’s scary dark! I want some lights.
