I’ve been on the hunt for a new coffee table for the den for a long while. We’ve gone through multiple coffee tables (for a recap let’s time travel to here, here, here, here, here, and here.)

Most recently we used a pair of John Keal for Brown Saltman end tables (just like these on fancy 1st dibs) that worked adequately but never really made me happy.

This weekend I found a pretty beat up Eames elliptical table at this place called Foothill 5 Fifty.

This place is not for the faint of heart, well…pretty much its just plain awful. The store is seriously packed with amazing pieces of furniture (all the biggies – Eames, Nelson, Bertoia, Wegner, Nakashima, you name it they got it stuffed in there – like crazy hoarder style) but it’s almost impossible to move around and you can’t see anything. When I’m feeling particularly masochistic I tend to check it out.

Customer service? TERRIBLE. Prices? OUTRAGEOUS.

So, my little beat up table was $90. I like it, Iggy loves it, The Boy, well he’s not convinced. You gotta get low low low low low low low low

Not Thrifty!

This is definitely Not Thrifty! but it’s sure is getting a little bit Scandinavian around here.

I had a few out of town guests stay at the old Brick House who are rabid mid century enthusiasts. So of course we headed out to Palm Springs to check out the goods.

My favorite little vintage import store JP Denmark just relocated to the Perez Art and Design enclave of stores in Cathedral City. Just The BEST little store for Danish design…but you’re going to pay for it $$$.

They are currently awaiting the big containers FULL of new-old things to arrive from overseas after the owners two month long shopping trip. What a perfect job.

$200 bucks for this shaggy rya rug. I was very tempted.

Not Thrifty!

Discovered a new vintage place called Dazzles (That name. I know. Yikes) with some pretty cute stuff at moderately reasonable prices for Palm Springs. It’s located in an old run down motel and you have to carefully weave through rooms full of some pretty funky stuff. I almost bought a large Franco Albini ottoman for $150 – now I’m regretting not getting it. Where would I put it! Really. At some point you have to say no.

Killer patio furniture and lots of lamps. I’ll be back for sure.
