Exterior Wood Siding

October 28th, 2009

There is a section of the ugly exterior
back patio that I want to cover with horizontal slats of wood. Like this guy did via the LA Times.

Good to know:

1. Use quality, stain-grade redwood
2. Use the proper kind of nail (zinc oxide, to prevent corrosion)
3. Drill a starter hole before tapping in each nail (to avoid splitting the wood)

I think we can do this after learning how to float furring strips on our concrete bricks in the guest bedroom.

I want it I want it I want it

RIGHT NOW.

Ugh. Someone else is going to look at it before me, which always spells trouble. I’m going to check it out if they fall through. Here’s to hoping they are super flaky!

DAMN YOU CRAIGSLIST. You tease.

Guest Bedroom Progress

October 27th, 2009

Here is a sneak peek of our progress. It sure is starting to look like a real live wall.

The Boy wants it officially known that he alone accomplished the rebuilding of the guest bedroom wall. He also said not to post anymore pictures of him bending over, which obviously won’t stop since it’s my favorite thing to do on the blog.

See – here, here, here.

I want it officially known that I paid for it all. I did help hold things and mud a bit as well – oh, and troubleshoot the planning and execution issues (thats a big job, really, if you have a boss or manager they will agree). Our friend Gary did help mud a little as well. But, yes The Boy really has done most of the labor and so far he’s done a great job.

I’m looking forward to getting this dusty, messy part of the project finished so we can make the guest bedroom purty.
