Credenza

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Yeah. This is my favorite credenza ever.

I don’t have $6,500 to drop on it, but I was thinking maybe we could DIY something similar. The boy has this “surround” sound system that I can’t stand to look at and I’m tired of staring at all the ugly TV components in the den.

This would be the perfect kind of credenza were you could hide all the ugliness and just slide open the front when in use.

What really got me thinking about this is Blake Dollahite‘s PERFECT house and SPECTACULAR hand built furniture. Look at this custom cabinet lined with cork and built to hold electrical gear.

I want to marry this man. Don’t tell the Boy.

(He knows though…he totally just yelled at me to stop staring at his website).

Thrifty!

I picked up this vintage phone bench which is marked “Made in Yugoslavia” at the local Angelview Thrift.

We don’t have a real land line phone (we just use our cell’s) but hey you could still sit and chat here. It’s giving me a ghetto Hans Wegner vibe.

Den

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

We are still getting used to the new caigslist danish sofa in the den and I think I’m starting to really LOVE it. It is very, very, very low and not made for the comfort of tall peeps. For us mid-height folks its perfectly lovely. Much more comfy and loungy than the stiff white sofa.

Slowly, I’d like to find a few new (well old, come on all my crap is old) pieces for the den. Perhaps a marble coffee table, white cowhide rug, maybe a new chair…did someone say Safari, Larsen, or something a little more leather and chrome?

For now the den is functional. It’s the little oasis in middle of the chaos of the guest bedroom remodel (but crap is starting to creep in there as well. ugh.). The house is strewn with furniture, art, tools, dust and random linens and shiz I haven’t seen in years that all need organizing or donation. I don’t know how couples make it through MAJOR remodels, the chaos is just so depressing.

Even with all our extra stuff there is still a lack of a few perfect pieces needed in the guest bedroom decorating extravaganza. Headboard, dresser, lights, rug….ect.

Does the shopping ever end? Do I want it to?

No.
