Guest Bedroom Inspiration

October 20th, 2009

Don’t mind all this, just trying to decide which way to go decor-wise with the guest bedroom.

You’ve seen these pics around before – I know, I know. I was just going through my DESIGN! folder and pulling some of the bedrooms that jumped out at me. Apologies for the lack of links, I’m woefully unorganized.

I think this time we might try and “design” the guest bedroom ahead of time instead of just winging it and throwing shiz together, hoping it works out – remember the master bedroom debacle? (“design” means a pathetic attempt at a mood board and all those annoying designy trimmings). I have a feeling there might be a dark paint color going up on the walls. Navy or black perchance?

Color. So Very Scary.

how timely! i'm just starting to decide what direction to go with in my bedroom – which is a complete blank slate…i actually have that same photo (the last one) in my inspiration folder too.

one thing i've decided on – lots of colour via a wild print! would love schumachers chaing mai dragon (yes i know it's 'trendy' but i love it) but may have to find something inspired by it.

interested to see what direction you go in :) you have great style and a great eye.

That bear print in the first pic- I feel a little lightheaded I want it so much!

I hope you go with dark walls!

Yeah stong colors scare me! I was freaking out when I was painting my red/orange wall. Even if you hate it leave the color up for a few weeks so you can get used to it.

      Me–
      "Yes I like"
"oh no what did I do"
      "no it's so cool"
"no, wait, it will drive me crazy"
      "I love it"

i loooove the second picture. i saw it about the time i was painting our guest room and it helped to confirm my decision to paint that room a dark navy color… and to convince my husband that it was a good idea. i kept everything else simple and just now added another color with a dark yellow/orange chair. i really like how the room is turning out, and i find it to be more relaxing than our bedroom. good luck, can't wait to see what you decide :-)

I loooove the bear pic too!!!!

I have a dark blue accent wall in my bedroom that makes still smile when ever I look at it. It was a great color choice for me, but I'd be too chicken to do the whole room in that color.

The bear picture is fantastic, does anyone know it's source?

Color is so scary which is why I haven't taken the plunge yet. But I feel it's going to happen and soon. I hope you do it so I can see how fantastic it is.

yes, yes yes! all beautiful rooms for different reasons. what a great collection to choose as inspiration. personally i love the black bedroom out of domino. its a bit much for some poeple, but i would feel cozy in it.

with my laptop, coffee, and a long morning reading.

Dark blue….midnight blue…I've nearly repainted our bedroom…cause I'm tired of the paint job I did this summer. It's all about deep blue for me.

Great styles. Thanks a lot for the tips. I guess every house should have a nice bedroom – it should not serve only as a room where all the stuff goes because the guests usually cannot see it.

      Regards,
      Jay
