Kitchen light

September 25th, 2009

I picked up this overhead light at the thrift store for $9.95. I dug the scale and graphic shape of it but not the weird 70’s brass – and hey, don’t get me wrong I love me some brass. Usually just the shiny stuff.

I sprayed it a glossy black and The Boy installed it in the kitchen.

What I didn’t notice till the fixture was all installed is that it’s missing some sort of bulb cover. There is an inset canopy flange thingy with screws that causes the bulb to hang so so low.

Looks like a trip to the hardware store for a simple little globe that fits the 5″ canopy is in the near future…poop.

Sputnik is heading to the bathroom.

Maybe I could put a cooler bulb in there, like a big half chrome one.

I just do not understand how you and the universe are so in sync that you are able to find these amazing items constantly.

I think I need to move near you.

It's amazing what a little paint can do! Love the light.

    What Jessica said ^^^^

I am very jealous. The paint looks great… I also do not mind the bare bulb, but I think either a larger one or a globe would look a little better. Schoolhouse Electric mmm?

might look better with a bigger bulb, but dont think you need to cover it up. did you have to do anything to the lamp before you painted it, aside from maybe cleaning it? is it just enamel? i love it, love it, love it….i want your sputnik! pretty please!
