   Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks with the shadows, but those aren't wide-mount shells, are they? What kind of base was on them before?

   hi! i've been reading your blog for a little while but i don't think i've commented before… love the chairs, we have the same only in gray. i also want the eiffel bases, my chairs are wide mount though so i'd have to buy a conversion kit also. where did you get the bases from?

   They are wide mount – they used to be desk chairs.

   I'm redoing all the shock mounts to fit the new bases. These things are pretty beat up from years of classes so they are getting the full overhaul restore treatment. They are not bad for being free!

   oh, I'm getting bases – hopefully – from this manufacturer in Corona. I'll let you know if they are any good.

   If not I might have to pony up for the ones at Modernica.

   wow, for free!!?? very lucky! for some reason i'm nervous about redoing the shocks myself and was leaning towards just buying the conversion kit… but now i might wait and see how it works out for you first. and please do pass along any feedback on your bases, esp. if they cost less than the ones from modernica.
