Living Room

Monday, July 7th, 2008

The new couch has arrived and allowed us to start decorating the long neglected living room. We’ve been using the 9 foot gray beast of a sofa in the den and now she is free to take her rightful place in the living room…

This is sort of the first trial run for the furniture placement. It will most likely be moved around, and we need to do window treatments, and get a rug, and accessorize, ect

Now the den needs some love. Maybe the couch will be OK…with some fun decorating…and snazzy accessories…

Welcome home new couch…now get out.

After 7 weeks we finally got our couch from EQ3. Check out the couch dilemma here.

Review so far…I HATE IT. Oh yes, I’ve got major buyers remorse.
Somehow, I think the experience I’ve had with EQ3 in Burbank has tainted my opinion. The total incompetence at that store is astounding. I won’t go into the boring catty details, but lets just say that I walked out of the store with a $50 gift certificate and lots of store apologies.

Above is my gray couch (taken apart in its new location in the living room) that I have had for a few years and love desperately. The EQ3 Byrd sofa is a pale cheap copy that will never live up to this beauties 9 foot long majesty. Like an underachieving middle child, the new sofa is easily looked over and pushed aside for its talented older sister.

BOOO, you suck!

I hate you stupid sofa. You look funny and my butt fits on you weird. Plus your supposedly bouclé fabric looks like fleece. What the hell?

I sat on the Byrd sofa covered in leather at EQ3 and really liked it! It was comfy and tight and nice. Somehow this upholstery version did not retain those super qualities and the bouclé fabric is really loose and wrinkly – like an old lady’s nether regions. Thats all I can think about when I look at this couch. Old Lady Vag.

Thrifty!

I checked out a couple of thrift stores on my only day off this week. Slim pickings!
Maybe its the holiday weekend, or the crappy economy, but all 5 of the stores I stopped at were packed and I only walked away with 2 things…

Salvation Army – My very first set of Fiestaware! I always loved this stuff but never see it, or its just ridiculously priced. I got 4 cups, 3 bowls, 4 small plates, and 4 big plates for….$4.55!

Salvation Army – $10.55. I paid a lot for this needlepoint. Its pretty big, and I love the graphic shapes. Maybe I just was so sad about not finding anything all day and went for it…it was sitting right next to the cash register – damn those brilliant marketers!
