Hungarian Bookshelves!

Corey over at Baltimore Rowhouse built these amazing Hungarian Shelves. Just be dammed you talented bastard, flaunting your skills, making me jealous.



Where have these been all my life ? I LOVE them. I want to build a set in my living room on the far wall by the front door and then paint them shiny white. Afterwards I can finally pull all my books out of their boxes in the guest bedroom and make them all prettified. I’ve got bric-a-brac galore that needs a home…

Horizontal Fence!

Jim over at Moderncraft made this fence. Damn you Mr. Cool Fence Jim, making me feel all bad about my house.



WOW! I’m in love with horizontal slat fences – especially with those sexy modern house numbers. Sign me up to replace the two front fences that flank the Brick House with something like that.

DAMN…now I’m itching to start a few projects. Time, tools, know how, and money are in short supply – but by the power of Grey Skull I will make it so!

Thrifty!

Stopped by a few thrift stores, but the heat got the best of me. I gave up early and quick.

Hospice Thrift, $1. A little white ceramic vase with a small teak base. Simple, cute, classy – so pretty much nothing like me…

Harvard St. Merchant. $30. It needs some love. I like that its armless and super comfy. I was thinking of having new cushions made and painting the wood a shiny black.

Hospice Thrift – $3 and $3. Bad art, and worse needlepoint. I’m a sucker for it.

Harvard St. Merchant, $15. A little white vintage table. I don’t really know why I bought this – there’s no real place for it in the house in particular. I think I’m trying to mix up the mid century stuff.

Inspirational thingies

A few things on the current “to do” list are giving me a little bit of trouble. Namely the front door hardware, and the direction the pink bathroom is going to go in. I’m on the hunt for some inspiration……cheap delicious inspiration…

I saw these on EBAY…and stupidly forgot to bid on them (they sold for only $15.51) . What a really great pair of vintage door escutcheons that I would have loved to use on my front door. How do you even pronounce that word – escutcheon?

Anyhooooo…I really want to address the front doors lack of hardware. The reality lock box is still hanging on the cheapo home depot brass entry knob, making the Brick House look abandoned. Also check out the nice plate instead of a deadbolt.

The big problem is that stupid giant hole. I have to get something with an escutcheon or a back plate to cover it up. This is proving to be difficult in my price range which is about $150 – $200.

If anyone knows of a good cheap mid century style entry lockset that will cover all the stupid holes in my door, let me know…I’m desperate.

For now I’m just going to cry about it. I can’t seem to find something that meets all my door measurement criteria and will be affordable and stylish. Stupid money and my lack of it.
